Hi my name is Jimmy N. , I am a 30 year old graduate student of Tom’s. I first met him through the Drop In Center Woodshop and I am currently employed at Allstar Cabinets thanks to Tom, he was the one who introduced me to this job.

As a young adult at 20 years old, I met Tom through my uncle. He was tough on me at first but it was for my own good. He pushed me into the right direction. For the duration I’ve known Tom he showed me amazing leadership, kindness and goes above and beyond for his students.

After I graduated from the woodshop, Tom kept in touch by checking up on me, ensuring I had a job. If I was not working he always presented me with opportunities to help me better myself. Continuously he found me employment, even when many years passed on if I was unemployed I could always count on Tom to lend a helping hand. Without Trades Guild and Tom, I do not know where I would be today. The skills that were taught to me were vital for my career path. Tom helped all his students especially me, by guiding us to a career and teaching the skills we need. Tom has saved many of us that all come from different situations, we’ve gained friendship and valuable lessons.

Tom opens doors for his students, he gives us many opportunities and never gives up on us. It is nice to have the support. During this pandemic I was on CERB and it had been 3 years since I spoke to Tom and he calls me out of no where. He landed me an interview, it didn’t work out. I was on the phone with Tom and he was at the langdon location and was able to get me an interview there. They needed a finisher and that is my specialty. I got the job, he told me to try it out but my only problem was transportation because it is out of town. Tom set up transportation to get me to and from work! I am so appreciative for this opportunity, it has help shape me to become a responsible young man. My priorities have changed instead of partying and going out, I help contribute to my family household. I have grown so much with my current job and have never been more happier and blessed for this path I am on.

What I am trying to say is thank you Tom, you never gave up on me and believed in me. You shape young minds and help improve our lives and communities.
